Native American Actors- Graham Greene



Although there are many First Americans who are widely known as talented Native American Actors and Native American Actresses and yet only a few of them have managed to get the wider recognition of their work. Here one can learn more about probably the most famous Native American Indian actor, Graham Greene.

Graham Greene was born in 1952 and he is a actor from Canada who has worked in different areas of the movie industry, playing in movies, and television production in Canada as well as in the United States and England. He is of Oneida descend and was born on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, in Ohsweken. His debut and his first contact with the music and entertainment industries was when he was the audio technician for some rock bands in Labrador and Newfoundland. He then went by the nickname Mabes. He followed classes of acting at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre's Native Theatre School where he graduated in 1974. After graduation he soon started performing on theatres both in Toronto and England.

In 1979 he first appeared on the television in an episode of The Great Detective. Then, he was casted for Running Brave in 1983, a role that was a potential (which later concreted) screen debut. Other films in which he appeared include Revolution and the First Nations and the mini TV series Spirit Bay. Perhaps his most widely known performance was the one on Dances with Wolves, a performance for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He continued however to appear in different movies and TV series some of which include Maverick, Thunderheart, Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Red Green Show. He also played in the Green Mile, an Oscar nominated film as well as in Transamerica and in the Twilight Saga: The New Moon and a recent TV series, Numb3rs in which he starred as a guest star.
